At AV Group Denmark, we take sustainability seriously, and we are proud to announce that on June 26, 2025, we have been certified in ISO 20121, the standard for sustainability in the event and meeting industry.

What is ISO 20121?

ISO 20121 is the only globally recognized sustainability standard for the meetings and events industry, helping organizers and suppliers set and achieve sustainability goals with ambitious efforts.

The standard ensures a structured and documented approach to all aspects of sustainability – environment and climate, social and employment conditions, and how to run a healthy and responsible business.

The certificate is a seal of approval for our sustainability efforts, and we are proud to be the first AV supplier in Denmark to achieve this certification. This effort comes in the wake of – and plays directly into – many other initiatives such as our GDPR compliance and the collective agreement we have just signed with Dansk Metal.

Recognized and used around the world

ISO 20121 is internationally recognized and used by event organizers and suppliers near and far.

ISO 20121 was launched in 2012 and was used the same year to certify the organization of the Danish EU Presidency and the London Olympics – and all Olympics since. ISO 20121 has been used for COP21 and COP 26, by Wembley Stadium, World Sailing, Svenska Mässan & Gothia Towers and in Denmark by Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center, BellaGroup, Messe Center Herning and Copenhagen Event Company.

We speak the same language

When working with ISO 20121, we are already working with many of the principles that will become mandatory reporting for large companies, such as ESG reporting*.

We are therefore ready to play a part in your sustainability work, for example with CO2 reports or documentation of how we comply with relevant environmental and labor laws.

The fact that ISO 20121 is also tailored to our industry made it easy to choose this standard over, for example, ISO 14001, which only focuses on environmental issues and is for all industries.

Sustainability goals that are easy to spot

At AV Group Denmark, we create unique audiovisual experiences that inspire and are remembered. The foundation of our business model is built around rental, and circularity is deeply rooted in our DNA. Based on the ISO 20121 management standard, we run a responsible business and work with sustainability in a structured, measurable and transparent way.

In our sustainability goals, we address the entire ESG spectrum, with a special focus on ensuring good working conditions and safety for both permanent employees and freelancers, and measuring and reducing our climate and environmental footprint.

Our sustainability goals are defined under three headings: Social responsibility and workforce, climate and environment, and corporate governance and stewardship.

Social responsibility and workforce

The overall goal is to raise the level of the industry in general, to ensure that AV Group Denmark’s workforce is given the opportunity to develop and to ensure a better working environment and knowledge level in the organization.

To ensure a healthy and safe working environment, fair wages, continuing education, etc. we were the first Danish AV supplier to sign a collective agreement in 2025. As part of this, all employees have the opportunity for two weeks of knowledge and skills upgrading annually. We have also established a knowledge lift program for permanent freelancers, and we always have four students from the country’s vocational schools.

Good corporate governance and management

We are GDPR compliant, which means that our customers and partners can rest assured that we handle their data with the utmost care and responsibility.

We have established an ongoing regulatory monitoring process related to the laws we are subject to, to ensure that we comply with all relevant legislation.

We have established a CRM system to ensure better customer insight – also related to sustainability requirements and expectations. We are committed to communicating transparently and in a timely manner about our sustainability work and ensuring continuous improvement.

Environment and climate

We work strategically and demonstrably to reduce e-waste to reduce our environmental and climate footprint. Our goal is to ensure that by 2030, 90% of our end-of-life equipment is either resold, donated or recycled.

We also measure and document our CO2e footprint, related to emissions from our own transportation of AV solutions, on a project basis to establish a baseline for a CO2e reduction.
